  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Slowly stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, layer the cakes with caramel sauce and sprinkle chopped pecans between the layers and on top.
