Gather and prepare your ingredients

To start off, make sure you have everything you need. Here's a simple list of ingredients that captures the essence of this delightful casserole:

• 2 pounds frozen hash browns
• 1 can cream of chicken soup
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus more for topping)
• ½ cup chopped green onions
• ½ cup melted butter
• 1 cup diced chicken ham or turkey bacon
• Salt and pepper to taste

You’ll want to thaw the frozen hash browns slightly before mixing. This will not only help with the consistency but also ensure that everything blends well. If you're looking for tips on perfectly managing your ingredients, check out this helpful guide on ingredient preparation.

Mix the creamy base

Now that you have your ingredients ready, let’s jump into creating that luxurious creamy base that defines every outstanding Copycat Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole.

In a large mixing bowl, combine:

• The cream of chicken soup
• Sour cream
• Half of the shredded cheddar cheese
• Chopped green onions
• And a sprinkle of salt and pepper

Use a wooden spoon or spatula to mix everything until it’s well combined. The texture should be thick and creamy, just the way you want it.

Combine with hash browns and butter

Next up, it’s time to introduce your stars to the creamy cast! In the bowl with your creamy mixture, add in the slightly thawed hash browns and melted butter. And don’t forget the diced chicken ham or crispy turkey bacon. This is where the magic happens; folding in the hash browns allows all those flavors to meld beautifully.

Make sure to combine everything gently but thoroughly. You want to coat the hash browns evenly so that every bite is just as delicious as the last.

Prepare the baking pan

Choosing the right baking pan is essential to achieving the best Copycat Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole. A 9x13-inch baking dish works perfectly for this recipe. You can either lightly grease the pan with cooking spray or butter to ensure easy removal after baking.

Spread the hash brown mixture into the prepared pan, making sure it’s evenly distributed. For an extra touch, sprinkle a bit more cheddar cheese over the top. This will create that lovely, gooey layer that everyone loves.

Bake to cheesy perfection

It's time to pop your casserole into a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. The smell will be heavenly—get ready for your kitchen to be filled with the aroma of cheesy goodness!

Once baked, allow your casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. This small pause will help it set, making it easier to cut into squares.
