Pumpkin Pie French Toast with Homemade

A cozy and delicious fall-inspired breakfast dish that combines the flavors of pumpkin pie with classic French toast. Perfect for holiday mornings or autumn brunches.

Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Pie French Toast:

1 cup pumpkin puree
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 cup brown sugar
8-10 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
For the Homemade Pumpkin Syrup:

1 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup water

Instructions

Prepare the Pumpkin Custard:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined.

Soak the Bread:
Dip each slice of bread into the pumpkin custard, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Allow the bread to soak for a minute or two to absorb the flavors.

Cook the French Toast:
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil. Cook the soaked bread slices for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Make the Pumpkin Syrup:
While the French toast is cooking, prepare the pumpkin syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla extract, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside.

Serve and Enjoy:
Stack the Pumpkin Pie French Toast on a plate and drizzle generously with the homemade pumpkin syrup. For an extra special touch, top it with whipped cream, chopped pecans, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes
