A classic Southern dessert made with creamy sweet potatoes, warm spices, and a flaky crust. Perfect for holidays or any special occasion.
– 1 deep dish pie crust
– 2 lbs sweet potatoes
– 6 Tbsp salted butter (melted)
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1/3 cup granulated sugar
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1/2 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– 1 pinch salt
– 1/3 cup evaporated milk
– 2 large eggs
1. Preheat oven to 400°F; bake sweet potatoes for 50–60 mins until tender.
2. Lower oven to 350°F and blind bake the crust.
3. Mash sweet potatoes; mix with butter, sugars, vanilla, spices, salt, milk, and eggs until smooth.
4. Pour filling into crust; bake for 50–55 mins.
5. Cool for 1 hour before serving.
– Add a foil ring to prevent crust over-browning.
– Pie will jiggle slightly in the center when done but will set upon cooling.
